Good question! I’m actually a bit weird here, most people get one because they want to become a Professor or something, but I was happy working in science without becoming a Dr or a Prof.

My background is in Biology, and I did 3 years work in a biology lab and loved it! Whilst working there I found myself more and more interested in the physics involved in microscopes and lasers, and also, I could see how computer science could make my work take half the time (giving me more time for tea and biscuits).

I saw an advert for my PhD, where they would train me in Computer Science and Physics and it was just too interesting to miss out on!
