What I like Most: Working out how to make new targets (how would you make a water-filled ice sphere with a solid core in the centre without it cracking?) and also working out what the result means and understanding the fundamental physics and chemistry behind the results.

Worst Part: Writing the papers, its need to be done but I struggle with writing.

I love being able to think up clever questions, and then working to find out the answer, the sense of achievement is like pulling off a double somersault on a trampoline (probably, there’s no chance I could ever do that on a trampoline!)

Least favourite is when you spend weeks doing an experiment to find out it hasn’t worked, because you made a mistake somewhere and have to redo it all! Very frustrating!

I like solving problems and understanding new things most. As a professor I spend a lot of my time going to committee meetings and sending emails rather than doing science. And that’s what I enjoy least.
