I decided I want to be an astrophysicist when I was about 14, from reading popular science books and watching TV programmes (but also because the film Top Gun featured a woman with a PhD in astrophysics…).

I wanted to be a scientist since I was very young. I wanted to be a geologist since I was 14. I wanted to be a planetary scientist since I was 22 and this PhD became available. I wanted to study impacts when I was 25 and my current job was advertised. Go with the flow.

I never really knew what I wanted! I wanted to do SO MANY things, and slowly over time this lead me to being a Physicist – it has links to all these different things 😀

So, to answer your question, I was 21 – that’s how old I am now – and I’m loving this job and I want to keep doing something like this forever!

It wasn’t until I was doing my A Levels at 16-17 that I realised I wanted to be a scientist

I didn’t know I wanted to be a scientist until I was about 25, when I did some work in a lab and loved it!
