      I don’t know, a medical doctor or a scientist who works on the brain would be better qualified to answer this. As far as I know dementia happens when particular parts of the brain (in particular the ones associated with memory) get damaged with age.

      With dementia, nerve cells in the brain lose the ability to communicate with other. Over time, this stops the brain from functioning properly, resulting in the inability for certain processes to operate, such as memory.
