• Question: Was the Big Bang real?

      Yes, as far as we know.
      .
      It’s a theory – obviously nobody was there to see it, and there are still some things about it that we’re not sure of, but all the signs and evidence points towards it being real!

      We don’t know exactly how the Universe was created, however we know that it started off very hot and dense and has been expanding and cooling ever since. The theoretical predictions of the Big Bang match observations right the way back to the first small fraction of a second. For instance, the light elements (hydrogen, deuterium, helium and lithium) were made a few minutes after the Big Bang, and measurements of how much of each one was made match theoretical calculations extremely well. We’ve also detected something called the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation-relic radiation which is left over from the Big Bang.

      The Big Bang theory is the best explanation we have for the formation of the universe. But it doesn’t explain everything – we still don’t know what there was before the Big Bang
